Welcome to St Ives Rowing Club

St Ives Rowing Club

St Ives is a pretty, historic market town on the Great River Ouse in Cambridgeshire (not Cornwall!!). Although the town was formerly known as Slepe, we do anything but! The rowing club, founded by a GP, Dr. Grove, around 1865, has a proud history of competitive rowing, producing some outstanding athletes on the national and international scene. This, however, should not put anyone off joining the club. We also have novice (beginners) oarsmen and women, and a thriving group of junior and social members. The club now occupies its second location in St Ives in a building formerly used as a grain store purchased from Mervyn Cootes, a businessman, & overlooks the picturesque Hemingford water meadow. The club is run by the trustees and a group of volunteers from the membership & aims to promote rowing in St Ives and the surrounding area.

If you want to have a bit of fun then try out the 'Games' link on the menu to the left. If you're around on a Sunday lunchtime you could even influence the next game!

You should now find that all the menu links work, but we are always happy to recieve suggestions for extra content. Please make this your own site that has the information you need available. Email your thoughts and comments to website@stivesrowingclub.com
